Member Spotlight: Kim Burton, Ruth’s Chris

For this Member Spotlight, meet Kim Burton, Sales & Catering Manager at Ruth’s Chris Steak House.

Why did you join the Chamber? Ruth’s Chris Steak House has been a Chamber member for more than 10 years. I have been an active member for two years now. I became an active member to advance sales for the restaurant and promote the Ruth’s Chris brand.

Tell us about your company. Ruth Fertel is the woman who, in 1965 New Orleans, mortgaged her home with a vision and took a gamble on owning a steak house. The steak house only seated 60 guests. Ruth added more than just her name to Chris Steak House. She added warmth and her love for entertaining. Our chefs prepare your steak in an 1800-degree oven, searing the natural flavors. Then it’s served to you on a 500-degree plate, so that your steak stays hot from the first to last bite.

What benefits do you get out of being a member of the Chamber? Through the Chamber, my connections within the city of Memphis are growing much greater than my networking alone. The connections are beneficial to the restaurant, as well as the personal growth of learning so many things I never knew about the city I’ve lived in my entire life.

What do you love about living and working in Memphis? I can sum up both of those questions with one phrase…  I love that “Southern Hospitality” we have in Memphis.

What sets your restaurant apart from others in the industry? Hospitality is the key. Not just great and quality food! We get to know our guests’ names, family, birthdays, anniversaries and knowing what their favorite dish is or which drink they prefer. We give the total indulgence with the little extras!
